Application                                                                      

R-507, as a widely used low-temperature refrigerant today, is often used in cold storage, food freezing equipment, marine refrigeration equipment, industrial low-temperature refrigeration, commercial low-temperature refrigeration, refrigerated trucks, freezing condensing units, supermarket display cabinets, and other refrigeration equipment. R507 is also a long-term replacement for R502, mainly used in low-temperature refrigeration systems.

 

Storage and Transportation                                                             

R-507 refrigerant cylinders are pressurized containers. During storage, they should be kept away from fire and heat sources and protected from direct sunlight. They should generally be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. During transportation, they should be handled carefully to prevent damage to the cylinders and valves.

 

Refrigerant Oil                                                                      

Refrigerant oils commonly used with R-507 refrigerant include: ICEMATIC SW32, SW220, EMKARATE RL32H, RL170H, etc. The type of refrigerant oil used in different equipment and applications should follow the recommendations of the refrigeration compressor and refrigeration (air conditioning) equipment manufacturers or be determined based on the specific conditions of the refrigeration compressor and equipment, that is, using equivalent design and technician-required refrigerant lubricating oil; in other words, select an equivalent refrigerant oil.

Phase-out Schedule                                                           

R-507 is an HFC-type azeotropic refrigerant (completely free of ozone-depleting CFCs and HCFCs), and it is a mainstream low-temperature, environmentally friendly refrigerant recognized and recommended by the vast majority of countries worldwide, widely used in the initial installation and replenishment during maintenance of new refrigeration equipment. It meets the standards of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), SNAP and UL, and conforms to the A1 safety group classification of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) (this is the highest level, harmless to the human body).

 

Note

Like R404A, R507 is a long-term replacement for R502 and R22 refrigerants (HFCs), but R507 can usually reach lower temperatures than R404A; R507 is suitable for all environments where R-502 can operate normally, and R507 is recognized and used by the vast majority of refrigeration equipment manufacturers worldwide. However, because the physicochemical properties, theoretical cycle performance, and compressor oil used for R507 are different from those of R502 and R22, for the after-sales maintenance of refrigeration equipment originally installed with R502 and R22 refrigerants, if the refrigerant needs to be replenished or replaced, only R502 and R22 can still be added, and R507 cannot usually directly replace R502 or R22 (that is, a complete replacement is usually not possible).
