R-508B is an environmentally friendly refrigerant, also known as R508B, with trade names such as SUVA 95 and Genetron 508B. R-508B is an environmentally friendly azeotropic refrigerant that is completely free of ozone-depleting CFCs and HCFCs. It is recognized and recommended by the vast majority of countries worldwide as a mainstream ultra-low temperature, environmentally friendly refrigerant, widely used in the initial installation and recharging during maintenance of new refrigeration equipment (ultra-low temperature, cryogenic). It meets the standards of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), SNAP, and UL, and complies with the A1 safety classification of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) (this is the highest level, harmless to the human body).

Main Uses
R-508B Main Uses R-508B (SUVA 95), as a widely used ultra-low temperature refrigerant, due to its good comprehensive performance, has become a very effective and safe substitute for CFC-13 (R13, R-13, Freon 13, Freon-13), R-503, and HFC-23 (R23, R-23, Freon 23, Freon-23). It is mainly used in environmental test chambers/equipment (thermal shock testers), freeze dryers/lyophilizers, ultra-low temperature refrigerators or freezers, blood bank refrigerators, biochemical incubators, and other cryogenic equipment (including scientific research refrigeration and medical refrigeration), mostly used in the low-temperature stage of these cascade refrigeration systems. R508B can achieve refrigeration temperatures as low as -80°C or even lower and is an industry-standard long-term replacement for R-13, R-503, and R-23; it is fully compatible with the working environment of R-503.
Precautions
Although R508B refrigerant is the most common choice to replace Freon R-503 and R13 in newly installed ultra-low temperature refrigeration equipment, because the physicochemical properties, theoretical cycle performance, and compressor oil of R508B are different from those of R503 and R13, for after-sales maintenance of refrigeration equipment initially installed with R503 and R13 refrigerants, if it is necessary to add or replace the refrigerant, only R503 and R13 can be added; generally, R503 and R13 cannot be directly replaced with R508B (that is, a complete replacement is generally not possible). R-508B Storage and Transportation R-508B refrigerant cylinders are high-pressure containers and should be stored away from fire sources and heat sources, and should be protected from direct sunlight. They should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. During handling, they should be carefully loaded and unloaded to prevent damage to the cylinders and accessories such as valves. Matching Refrigerant Oil: Refrigerant oil that can be used with R-508B refrigerant includes Emkarate RL32H and Solest LT-32. The specific type of refrigerant oil used in different equipment and applications should follow the recommendations of the refrigeration compressor and refrigeration (air conditioning) equipment manufacturers or be determined based on the specific circumstances of use of the refrigeration compressor and refrigeration equipment, that is, use refrigerant oil with equivalent design requirements.
